    Default confused...

I have been lifting for over ten years and it always amazes me that people in the gym who lift real heavy with loose to sloppy for with a lot of weight are always thick and bigger.... When I myself push it and loosen up on form I seem to grow more..... but all I have always heard is strict form... feel the muscle.... not saying that does not work but I like i said most the dudes in the gym using heavy heavy weight sloppily are thick as hell... any thoughts.... and the dudes i see pressing 60 lbs dumbbells with strict perfect form are always the skinny track type....

This is where a lot people mess up. You should try not to compare yourself to others. I would much prefer to lifter who has strict form, lifts smart, and is NOT 20% body fat. But the size of person is mostly a result to genetics, training, drugs, or etc. MANY factors come into play. It is not all about lifting heavy.

    You might have things reversed.

The skinny track type is lifting 60 lbs dumbbells because he's the skinny track type.
He's not the skinny track type because he's lifting 60 lbs dumbbells.

Agreed...from a skinny guy...its not my fault I started Benching 40 lb Dumbells. Its the way I was made. Granted, after 35 months of straight hard work, I now bench the 105's, but I had to start somewhere, even being twice the age of a college kid.

I'll give you this, in a gym, there are skinny kids who try it a few times but never go anywhere with it. They end up stuck on the 60's topping out cause they never evolve their whole life, nutrition, etc, to getting bigger. And there are always the group of guys who stand around and talk all the time, and maybe one of them is the popular guy cause he can bench the 75's...those guys drive me nuts. But its the same as the Cardio area. Only the strong survive, and continue to come back again and again, and end up working with the triple digit Dumbells.

I never said they were 20% bf I also did not discount strict form.... But in my 10+ years most of the time when dudes are moving heavy weight with not the best form they are always thicker and fuller.... I myself always try to keep strict form... just surprises me....

This begs the question of what is good form. Their form may be loose for some but strict comared to others. I use to do 100% range of motion and never let myself move around but for a few months now I've reduced my range of motion and allow myself to cheat and have been making better size/strength gains than ever. However, all of my movements are deliberate and strictly executed.

I think some people have a good enough MMC to use form that isnt "perfect" but still hit the muscle just right.

I may be the only girl posting on this thread... but, i think you should take a look at your diet, first and foremost for growth, also if you are doing the same routine in the gym you may find your results are just that, the same. DON'T follow the example of the sloppy lifters though!

First thing I would say is that sloppy form is relative. I think overall if you take 2 people with similar genetics, same diet and one uses less weight put perfect form and the other guy uses form that's less strict but pushes much heavier weight, the guy lifting more will probably grow quicker and top out bigger. It's not always about perfect form, it's about doing an exercise effectively. That may mean finding a balance between form and load.
