Baldwin's prep for the LA Grand Prix
I have begun prepping for my first show. I will be competing in the LA Grand Prix on April 14 in both the novice and open class. Originally, I had planned on prepping myself, but recently got in touch with Phil from Team Provo (teamprovo.com) and we will be working together from this point forward. We are both very excited and optimistic for this prep. I am 22 years old at this point and have only been actively bodybuilding for two years (although I lifted on and off throughout my teen years). I began dieting at 16 weeks out and am now around 13.5 weeks out. I started my diet weighing ~225 and am down to ~215 now.
I received my diet from Provo today and here is what we have come up with for starting:
Macros 3,218K/108.2F/203.0C/349.5 P
1) 3 whole eggs, 8 egg whites, 4 slices of Ezekiel bread
2) 50 g of whey protein, 6 g of bcaa, 45g carbs of white rice
3) 6.5 oz of chicken breast, 45g carbs of brown rice, 1.5 tablespoons of almond butter
4) 6.5 oz of chicken breast, 3 oz of avocado
5) 7 oz of eye round steak, 1 tablespoon of macnut oil
6) 8 oz of tilapia, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 cup of steamed vegetables
I will also be doing 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week.
I had sent him detailed records of everything I had been doing so far in the prep and we have modified it from there. I’ve wanted to get on stage for awhile and finally feel like it’s finally my time. I attached a few pictures from this weekend (14 weeks out). It was taken on a hamstring/calf day, my legs really aren't that big

Dude, you look great, especially for your age. But you are right that your legs aren't that big... They're huge! Do you know what was your bf % when you started dieting and now? Anyway, I'm sure you will to do great at your show.

Thanks man! When I first began my legs were nothing and they have made some major improvements over the last year. I honestly have no idea what my BF is and I hate to play the guessing game. I've been meaning to pick up some calipers for awhile now
Thanks man!
Thanks man! I had originally planned on doing them both, but will be graduating and moving away in June, so I had to choose a show before I left. I remember I used to see you around Golds north, where you training now? I'm sure you don't remember me, I was just a lil guy back then haha

Major improvements, for sure. Whatever you're doing, it's working!
By the way, where do you train in LA! I just moved there a few months ago, but I'm on the east side.

I was hoping nobody would ask for the before pics, they embarass me haha. Here is a pic of 11 months progress:
side chest3.jpg
I suffered a back injury from squatting in HS, so I was always afraid to really go hard on legs. As soon as I implemented squats and separated quads/hams onto different days, my legs began to blow up. They went from one of my weaker bodyparts to now my dominant bodypart haha.
I actually don't live in LA, I live in Tucson, AZ right now. I'll just be traveling out there to compete
I hear ya man, it's a bitch making the drive everyday. It's just too bad that LA only has dumbbells going up to 100 lbs. Hopefully I see you around Golds soon, you're the only guy who has ever had bigger calves then me hahaha

Yea my legs have always been my best bodypart, just love to train them and my fave muscle. As for my calves, its going to sounds funny but its exactly what I did.... Walk on my toes, lol you'd probably catch me walking on them in the gym (yes it looks funny, but it paid off) Yea thats the sucky part of La Fitness the 100lb DB's. Thats some EXCELLENT progrss you made in 11months!!! You can tell you put the work in!

dude, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. You looked like you lifted before, but you look like a true bobdybuilder now. No need to be modest. The progress in your legs is truly impressive. Congratulations!
Too bad you're not in LA, but Tuscon's not too shabby either. Was actually just near there this past weekend (flew in to Tuscon airport, if that counts, lol). If I go to the LA Grand Prix, maybe I'll see you there. Look forward to following your progress!Last edited by Spacey; 01-17-2012 at 02:05 AM.
