Wouldnt it be great if the Olympia came back to Australia

Just finished watching the 1980 Olympia held at the Opera House in Sydney, and on the back of AVBG post about the IFBB worlds coming here in 2013.

Wouldn't it be really cool to see the Olympia start to move to different venues and countries. It wouldn't have to be every year but every 3rd or 4th year they could take it to another country and city around the planet.

It would be a total success imo, and open huge markets outside of the US.

You would have no problem selling out venues in the likes of Brazil, England, Continental Europe and of course Australia.

It would be a win win for the IFBB and the fans.

The IFBB want to spend as little as possible (hence the Orleans) so I doubt they will bring the big show Down Under. There is more chance of us not having an IFBB show at all if Tony Dougherty decided to stop doing it..

Too right! The Mr Olympia title had a greater international prestige when it was in a different city each year. Even when it was still in the states but in different city it was cool, I started following bodybuilding when Lee Haney beat out Gaspari, Labrada, DeMey, Strydom and Quinn in L.A '88.

Every second year in Vegas would be cool then as you guys said somewhere different either around the world or even if some years it was still in the U.S. but somewhere like new york or something.

I think that would add a little to the show and for people traveling to watch the show.

Scott do you reckon we already get "our Olympia" every year in Melbourne? As such should there be a greater push from the wider bb community to get behind it more aggressively? Getting the Plenary hall full would be great.

It's hard because some years the line up s are crazy then other years ( this year especially ) are kinda weak

Hell yeah that would be great!! I think greater exposure + giving fans around the world to see the "holy grail" of bbing being battled out would only be a win win situation.

It's a good point. I think we have a tendency to get a bit complacent, it's now the third longest running show in the IFBB. I think an Olympia calibre line up would sell out the Plenary Hall though. Tony is already getting verbal commitments for next years show so it should be a good one.
