How much do you tell your trainer?
Hey guys
I have recently gotten a new trainer for my first upcoming show and he's really good. However in my last measurements he was really surprised how bloated I was and asked about my sodium etc and was really trying to get to the bottom of it.
I know the exact reason why, I had my period and this happens every time. I know it sounds pathetic but I am too embarrassed to tell him, should I just get over it and say it, do you discuss period with your trainer, I dunno I don't want to weird him out ?

Just tell him. He needs to know everything otherwise he might change your diet/cardio regimen even though it's not necessary if u don't tell him.

Ive been a trainer since I turned 20. Every time I weigh a woman (I have 0 male clients since i moved back to connecticut) or take their measurements and the scale is up a pound or two and certain measurements like abdominal and suprailiac are up i ask them if they're about to get their period. Then again, my personality dictates that they are confortable to talk to me about things like that.
Yes I did inject my sack to win free shit.

If he's a good trainer it wouldn't even be necessary to tell him that . If you simply weren't following his diet ( assuming it was a good one) than there would be other obvious signs , ie fat gain .
I also wouldn't get too carried away with measurements , calipers , ect . So many things effect the true result .. Time of day measurement taken, precise measurement point, exercise immediately preceeding measurement . Focus on how you look . Again , if your trainer knows what he/ she is doing there will be obvious [progression.

Girl...I tell my diet coach EVERYTHING! Constipation, when I get my period, when I am crapping my brains out, when I am gassy.....
It's important you are comfortable in front of them...they will be looking at you A LOT in a bikini!!!

As was kind of stated before if he's worth anything he probably would have asked you if he was in question about your measurements about your cycle unless he's equally uncomfortable. But if you want the most out of him as a trainer I'd suggest being up front about when your cycle is and trouble with diet ie not being able to go or dropping pellets. That's a pretty good sign something needs to be adjusted typically.

I worked with my coach 5 years and he become my second father... and I understand you, first time when he asked me if I have my period regullary I was red from my head to toe, but he told me it is a normal body state and more - it is a state when some hormonal changes goes on in the body, so it influence how I look, same as other things, so he had to know everthing...
and as girls above said - Tammy and Gail - when the competition is close even more personal things will come
So yes - coach is working with your body, therefore he/she have to know all what influence the look of the body and it is just important to understand, that all people poo and fart and all women have periods LOL...ProNutriFit.com - personal online training and nutrition

As a trainer myself, the more information I have, the better! I say every little bit helps. I'd rather have too much information than not enough
