    WEEK 2 DAY 11

    Well...... it's just been non-stop madness. I tried to post last night, but my internet decided to stop working. So gotta get that fixed. I was exhausted anyway so that forced me to get 5 1/2 hours of sleep instead of 4. Didn't get much sleep last so was really tired again in my software training class today. Last night I did legs. Right off the bat, I started with lunges and realized there is something wrong with my left hamstring. I think I've pulled it a bit. It was very painful at first so couldn't do any lunges. Once I got warmed up I was able to do some leg presses and dead lifts, but there's clearly some damage to my left hamstring and I'm going to have to be very careful with training so I don't injure it further. Last night I did:

    Hip Abductor and Adductor: 3 sets, increasing weight, superset,
    Leg Extensions: 3 sets, 10# increases
    Leg Press: 3 sets, 10# increases
    Deadlifts: 3 sets, 5# increases
    Lying Leg Raises (inner thigh): 3 sets to max, alternating sides
    Single Leg Calve Press (body-weight): 3 sets, 20 each leg

    Though I trained injured last night, I feel I still got a decent workout in. When I got home I tried 2 more products from Walden Farms with my dinner. I had the WF Thick and Spicy BBQ Sauce with my grilled chicken and I had the WF Ranch Dressing with my greens. The BBQ Sauce rocks!!!!!! It will become a permanent condiment in my food bag. The Ranch was so so, but it you use the Ranch with some Franks Red Hot on your chicken, you've got yourself some dieter's buffalo chicken. I love buffalo chicken so I'm going to try that combo tonight.

    Lets talk about the supplements. I had always had a hard time sleeping. Not as much getting to sleep, as it is staying asleep. I'm constantly tossing and turning all night long. Since I started taking the ZMA-5, I've been sleeping great! Though they can make you a little groggy when you get up if you haven't had, I'd say at least, 7 hours of sleep, I'll deal with it in order to get the quality sleep I've been getting lately. I give ZMA-5 a thumbs up.

    Anyway, I just got finished with the remainder of the awful software training and still have some other stuff to do, so I'm gonna get going so I can get out of here at a decent time, get in and out of the gym at a decent time and get my butt to bed. Have a good night and talk to yal tomorrow.

    WEEK 2 DAY 12

    I anticipated cravings today but had none, with the exception of when I had to walk by a breakout that had those blasted cookies and candy bars on it again! It was a short-lived craving, so not a real one. It was just a matter of seeing the cookies and remembering how it taste and wanting some. Did my typical cardio this morning, 70 mins, and did chest, back and abs tonight. My last meal tonight was what has now become my relief for my sweet tooth, the puffed up protein with Walden Farms syrup. It's a dieter's IHOP. It's past my bedtime, I need to work tomorrow. ZMA-5's and off to bed. Sleep tight. If you take the weekend off, be sure to check in again Monday morning for new pics and stats!

    WEEK 2 DAY 13

    What's up RX friends?!?! I know it's Saturday, but have tons of work to get done so got up at my usual.... dark o'clock..... did my cardio and I'm at work now. Going to hit it hard and get this mile long to-do list out of my way so I am concentrate more on me. I'm expecting a plateau this upcoming week so I'm strategizing and coming up with a game plan to detour and avoid it. Going to hit the gym here at the hotel today when I'm done since the Y closes so damn early on Saturdays. I'll check in with you guys tomorrow to let you know what game plan I've come up with to outsmart the plateau. Talk at cha then!

    CHEAT MEAL #1 - WEEK 2 DAY 13

    I forgot to mention this morning that today I get my first cheat meal. As I was packing up from work and getting ready to come home, I really started to put some thought into what I wanted to eat. I'd been thinking about all kinds of different things over the past 2 weeks, but now that I had to make a decision, it was much more difficult than I thought. Basically, since I've gotten used to being told what to eat, it made me feel like I was on death row and being asked what I wanted my "last meal". How are you supposed to make a decision like that??? I wanted something worth it, something deliciously awesome, but since I wasn't craving anything in particular and could have gone for my diet food more easily, I decided to go to Applebee's. After all, I didn't want junk, I just wanted a nice, well rounded meal with some good 'ol carbs in it.

    I ended up picking the "Weight Watchers" Grilled Chicken Parmesan, Rice Pilaf with Mushrooms, and Sauteed Spinach. I know what you're thinking....... what in the hell kind of cheat meal is that?!?! Don't get your panties in a wad. I had a Kit Kat for dessert. I enjoyed my meal and now I feel like I have a bowling ball in my belly. Since this is a contest of results and befores and afters, I've attached some lovely pictures for your viewing pleasure.

    It was about 2 times the size of my typical diet meal so after I was finished I fell asleep sitting straight up on the couch. Woke up about a hour later realizing I should just go ahead and call it a night. I know I'm going to be exploding with energy tomorrow so looking forward to my cardio tomorrow AM. But for now, it's bed time. Pretty lame for a Saturday night, but I want to stay on my schedule so I'm not tired on Monday morning when I have to go back to work. Enjoy your Saturday night.

    WEEK 2 DAY 14

    After having my big fat cheat meal last night and going straight to bed afterwards, I expected to have a big bloated belly this morning. I was wrong. I woke up this morning and I was the leanest I've been in a while. I was very surprised, so surprised I took pictures. I weighed myself too, but not going to share that with you just yet. We'll wait until tomorrow for the official Week 2 Results pictures and stats.

    I'm off from work today so I'm cleaning, cooking and packing up my supplements for the week, running errands and trying to relax a little bit as well.     Did legs tonight. Got to the gym about 45 mins before it closed so couldn't overdo it too much like I like to. Pretty much the same 'ol thing:

    Hip Abductor and Adductor, 4 sets superset
    Leg Press, wide high stance, 4 sets 10# increases
    Leg Extensions, 4 sets
    Stiff Leg Dead Lifts, 4 sets 5# increases
    Single Leg Calf Raises, body weight, 4 sets
    Squats, 3 sets, 10# increases

    Got a lot of stuff done today but took my dear sweet time doing it so now, here I am at 11:45pm (CST) just getting into bed when I should have been in bed at least 2 hours ago. O well....... there's always tomorrow night. Good night

    WEEK 3 DAY 16

    Had the day off today so went to the dentist to get my chicken-eat'n choppers detailed, did some shopping for a few new things to wear to work, got some other things done, but, of course, started off with my cardio. Just ate another meal (of chicken) so about to head to the gym to get an arms workout in. Going to see ZZ Top tomorrow evening so have to stick with a quick abs and calves workout before the concert tomorrow. But, before I head out I thought I'd share a few things with you. I know I wonder what other people eat when dieting and how they eat it. Though we're all eating chicken, I'm sure eat of our versions of chicken all look different. So thought I'd share with you what my version looks like.

    As previously discussed, I went to culinary school so I should be able to crank out some darn good chicken breast. I like grilled chicken breast but live in an apartment and don't have a grill. When I first started cooking my chicken, I think I was just baking it on a sheet tray in the oven and it was so dry and disgusting. Somewhere along the way, I decided enough was enough and got a little creative with my cooking technique. After a few different variations of a new method, I decided which one made the best grilled chicken breast alternative.

    First, I clean and butterfly the chicken for me even cooking. Then weight the chicken when raw so I know how many servings it will produce. Usually I go with one pound for 4 servings and freeze the rest in the same increments so I can defrost and cook as needed. Next, make foil packets, placing 1 or 1.5 chicken breasts flat (butterfly open) in each packet and season it with fresh ground sea salt and pepper and Mrs. Dash (picture below). Fold the foil over (in half) and turn the sides over a few times so the edges are tight, making an envelope-like pocket. The pockets go on a sheet tray and into the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees (picture below). When you take the chicken out, open the packets to cool the chicken. Be careful opening as steam will be inside the pockets. Allow the chicken to cool then it's time to portion it. You can either chop the chicken into chunks or make it into chicken strips. Once cut as desired, get a post-cooked chicken weight and divide by 4 to get your portion measurements. Put the 4 ready-to-eat servings in zipper-bags or plasticware and either microwave for 30 seconds when ready to eat or enjoy cold. I eat my chicken with either: 1/2 soy sauce 1/2 rice wine vinegar mixture with green onions, Walden Farms Ranch and Franks Red Hot, Walden Farms Thick and Spicy BBQ Sauce, or Yellow Mustard. Gives you a few different varieties.

    Another simple thing I like to enjoy is a Protein Powder Puff. This recipe is complements of Gail Auerbach. It's great! It looks like bread and is sort of similar to crispy bread in texture. The method is very simple. Put one scoop of your favorite flavor of protein protein powder into a ceramic or glass bowl (plastic bowls won't work well). Put just enough water into the powder to make it pasty. Use a spoon or rubber spatula and mix the powder with the water working the lumps out. I use Vanilla flavored powder and add cinnamon to mine. Put the mixture in the microwave for 2 minutes. The finale product is a big poofy thing that you'd never expect. It looks sort of like a puffed up pita (picture below). I eat my Vanilla Cinnamon flavored Protein Powder Puff with Walden Farms Syrup (picture below). Makes a great alternative for just a shake. You can also put peanut/cashew/almond butter on it for your fat source.

    I use Isolate Protein. I'm not sure how regular whey would do with it. The cookie ball sounds delicious! Gonna give it a try!

    Just back from the gym doing Arms and Shoulders.

    Pulley Push Downs: 4 sets, superset with
    Cable Curls: 4 sets

    Dumbbell Side Laterals: 4 sets, superset with
    Dumbbell Alternate Raises: 4 sets

    Dips: 3 sets, bodyweight

    Single Dumbbell Curls: 4 sets, superset with
    Dumbbell Press: 4 sets

    Tricep Kickbacks: 3 sets

    Then did just a touch of cardio afterwards and headed home. On the way home I realized I need peanut butter. Stopped at Kroger really quick on the way home and got some. Remembered I was also out of pickles when I walked by them. I won't settle for just any pickles. I have to have the Clausen Sandwich Slice Pickles, the ones that come in the refrigerated section. They have them only at this particular Kroger. So grabbed some, along with my peanut butter and went to check out. It was at that time that I realized I everyone around me was thinking I needed a pregnancy test too. NOT PREGNANT people!!! I'm dieting!!! Gotta have the Peanut Butter and I like those pickles with yellow mustard as a little snack sometimes.

    Drove home, and as I was driving I asked the question of the day.......

    There's 2 Left Turning Lanes, one left Left Turning Lane and one right Left Turning Lane. They're both filled with vehicles and the light is going to turn green soon. Which car has it's blinker on?

    Any guesses?????

    None! Tennessean's don't use blinkers!!! Not only do they not use blinkers, they do use common sense, they don't go the speed limit, they go the speed minimum, and they do that in both lanes, side by side, same speed and have no place to be. They have all day to drive around with their head up their butts and force me to waste my time driving when I'd rather be doing something meaningful. If you're an offender, change your ways . Have a pleasant evening .

    WEEK 3 DAY 17

    Today was exhausting! One thing after another, work work work, none stop. I ate all my meals at my desk today. I'm mostly been doing that, but today I had to set alarms to remind myself to eat because I was so busy. Didn't leave work until 715pm. I was supposed to go to the ZZ Top and 3 Doors Down concert tonight but had too much work to still get done, was too tired and also had to cook more food. Wanted to get my sleep in tonight in order to be well rested when I wake up tomorrow for cardio then go back to work for more crap.

    Tonight is an off night for training. I will pick up again tomorrow evening. I'm headed to bed. Goodnight everyone...

    So..... yesterday was less than desirable and I went to extra effort yesterday to make sure that today would not be the same. First thing when I wake up this morning, the day has already gone to hell in a hand-basket. Bloated, retaining water, back hurts...... I feel like a big, heaping, steamy pile of dog shit! At least it is confirmed that the Kroger personnel's "peanut butter and pickles" theory is not true.

    I won't be expecting an accurate scale reading or visual on the pics this week. Guess we'll have to wait until next week to see what results for week 3 and week 4 combined are. But, I've been wrong before..... could be wrong again. We'll see. Anyway, I'll have another interesting topic for you to read about tonight, so yal come back now, ya hear?

    O, I see what you're talking about now. I thought you were talking about putting peanut butter on the Protein Puff. You were reading my peanut butter and pickles story. My diet does not specifically have peanut butter on it, but it does have nuts are a source of fat on one of my meals so I sometimes substitute all natural almond, cashew or peanut butter.

The #1 thing I was thinking of right after I left work was about getting to bed as soon as possible. But, every single time, without fail, as soon as I get going at the gym, that's straight out the window. I just keep going and going and won't take DONE for an answer. The Y closes at 9pm and I eventually get kicked out. Anyway, can't tell you what all I did because I did all KiNdS of stuff. Worked every single inch. Kept going til failure.

    Now it's time to eat. Gonna just have a Protein Puff, take my PM supps, don't forget the ZMA-5 (AN NEW MUST FOR ME), shower and tuck me into bed. See you guys in the morning. Sleep tight.

    WEEK 3 DAY 19

    Today wasn't so bad. There were a lot of people missing from the office today so less noise and chaos and people bothering me. I actually had a nice, relaxed day..... until 4pm. Then, the flood gates opened up. I got 4 phone calls for things that need to get NOW. I got some of it done, but the rest is going to have to wait until tomorrow. Right about the time it was time for me to leave work, I was really tempted to have an off day for training today, but I decided it wasn't an option and made myself go anyway.

    I did chest and then 20 mins of walking on an incline. Came home and it was still light outside! That was nice. Ate a protein puff and nuts for dinner with my supps, 2 ZMA-5's and it's time for bed. I'm overly tired today for some reason so I'm headed to bed. Goodnight

    WEEK 3 DAY 20

    I realize my posts have been sorta boring the past couple of days. I guess I've been a little excessively tired. Last night when I was writing post #78 (just above), right after the sentence "I did chest and then 20 mins....." I fell asleep, sitting straight up, on the couch again. I woke up about an hour later and realized what had happened. I took 2 of the ZMA-5s thinking I would have my typical 30 minutes for them to kick in, but I guess not. Super tired + ZMA-5 = konked out! So, woke up, all dazed and confused, quickly finished up my post, found the will to take a shower and went to bed. There is one thing I wanted to put in my post last night that didn't make it due to my sinking spell. When I got home from the gym last night, this is what I walked in to....

    I think they may have been having a group discussion about how I hog the elliptical all the time and they never get to use it. Or maybe they think I do too much cardio and they're planning an intervention to tone down my cardio regimen a notch. Your guess is as good as mine.

    This morning when I woke up, I had set my alarm clock about 45 minutes too early so rolled back over and slept a little while longer. All together, I know I got about 8 1/2 hours of sleep, but I was still dragging this morning. Cardio wasn't very fun with so little energy, then getting ready for work sucked too. But, at least today is very low-key here at the hotel. I'm the only person in the office besides the assistant at the business center. No noise, no questions, no phone calls, just peace and quiet to get some paperwork done.

    I think I might leave work a little early today, maybe around 3pm if I can , so I can go home and relax just a bit and freshen up before I head out to the Flex Lewis Classic in Murfreesburo, TN tonight. I wanted to have my cheat meal tonight but I don't know if I'll be able to work it in with my schedule. May end up having it tomorrow evening instead. Tomorrow the hotel is having an outing at Nashville Shores. It's a water park. They're going to have food there so may use that as my cheat meal instead.

    WEEK 3 DAY 21

    Went to the Flex Lewis Classic last night. It was a good show. For a small show there were lots of vendors and the stage and set-up were great! There was a really great turnout as well. Guy Cisternino and Dexter Jackson were guest posers and there were several other IFBB Pros there to hand out trophies to overall winners.

    Last night I also had a cheat meal. This time I didn't think too much about it. I just got out my menus and chose something really quick. I figured, I'll get another cheat meal next week so if this cheat meal doesn't hit the spot, there's always next week. This week, I went a little bit nastier than last week. I got Chinese Take-Out: General Tso's Chicken with Steamed White Rice, and Egg Roll and a Fortune Cookie. I had a really hard time eating it all, but I wanted to so I made it happen.

    When I woke up this morning, the same noticeable difference that I saw last week after my cheat meal was not there, but I have noticed a big change all over this week.     Ya. Pretty much. He's a big boy! They all are. I took my shoes off so I wasn't towering over them. If I'm not mistaking, Guy and Bethany are both 5'6" and Bethany is as big around as my pinky finger and Guy is as big as a Mack truck. Most of the O line-up are short and look like refrigerators. BIG boys.

    WEEK 4 DAY 22

    I weighed in yesterday, as I have been doing, just for the heck of it so I know how much weight I've lost for the week a whole 24 hours before I post it. I wasn't expecting to lose much weight this week since historically I've always plateaued on Week 3 and since I was retaining water this week. Well, I really surprised myself and went and lost another 4 pounds! This is insanity! These big loses have to stop sometime, but if it's not any time soon, I'm still ok with that too.
