    Default Menses on/around show date?

    Hello! =)

I am going to be competing in my first figure show Sept 15th. I've been training for well over 3 years and think I have a chance to do pretty well.

That said...I am also projected to have my period around that time, and I always, always, always get my period. Always. I mean, I was anorexic for two years and was under 80lb and still got my period. So I'm anticipating I'll still have my period come show time. O_O

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to reduce menstrual bloating - aside from the peak week crap I'll be doing anyway?

Competing naturally - I had the same "problem" several times. Many girls around told me there is nothing I may do with it and always I have to count to come smoother... I realized what helps is not cutting the water too soon - I have elevated intake till Thursday, Friday I still keep it around 1 gallon - but I cut it sooner than usually - around 4PM if my show is around 2PM next day. I use half of the water intake in diuretic tea and I do NOT carb up while having this issue... I start with dry carbs only (no fruit, no marmalades - usually only ricecakes) 4-5 hours after I cut my water.... And if possible I double the diuretic intake (I use natural ones as Aqualyze is and I use double dosage recomended if having period).
Next comp day I do not have any drop of water, any "wet" carbs as rice or fruit.... I use only ricecakes and spongebiscuits (I could not found those in USA, I think I used Vanilla "french" biscuits instead).

I am usually softer, but not bloated... And same worked even for my friend I prepared this year and who was in the same situation as me....

BTW: I would not use any hormonal injection given by Doc. to postpone it, as my friend came even more bloated when she did it - as it is a huge change in hormonal levels in short time and the body may react not good....

As mentioned if you're using something like AAS or a SERM like nolvadex (observationally I'd say for MORE than 4 weeks - since the menstrual cycle operates on a 28 day cycle), it will most likely be interrupted anyway. TYpically it stops when girls get < 11% or so from bodyfat loss, but based on your own experience its hard to know for sure. Its not a guarantee but very common.

The only other alternative is if you're using birth control go thru the month prior to your show as usuall, but instead of waiting the usual week "off", go straight into the next month's pack of pills.

I have found whether i actully get it or not doesn't matter I still get all the symptoms hold water, look softer etc

Ask your gyno for a duiretic like dyazide They will write a script if you tell them you bloat a lot each month

This - if you can manage to induce amenorrhea, you tend to not get the flow but still get the rest of sides on schedule. The birth control thing might actually delay it because it is essentially rescheduling that phase of your period.

Thank you guys SO MUCH!! I am natty. I have access to some stuff (my husband uses, he's a BBer) but I'm not too keen to use it yet. I figure one single cycle (which is all I'd have time for before show date at this point) won't do too much so I'll just get started during my next bulking cycle.

ANYWAY - so much great info in this thread! I really, really appreciate it!!! =)

Running a cycle is the LAST thing I'd suggest. That's something you need to know what you're getting into and it might fuck up everything for you if you don't know what you're using and why you're using it. Completely the wrong way to approach your particular issue. If you want to play w/ the birth control, that's one thing. Otherwise, just see if it actually comes or not given where you will be on bodyfat loss, etc. or just deal with it. It does happen. Sucks, but it does sometimes.

Best of luck w/ your prep! Mostly be sure worrying about it doesn't distract from the rest of your prep!

Sorry, that was poorly written! I was never considering using anything to get rid of the period - it's a pain but it's also not worth the risk of throwing myself way off track and I have no idea how my body would respond to anything! I'm considering a cycle of var during my next gaining cycle though. But that's a long way off! =)

Thanks again for all the input!! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a stubborn period.

I'm sure women have been asking this question for millenia.
