A Special about Daoism on the History-Channel is (IMHO) NOT the way to go about inner strengh. Most of us are just checking the T&A in the Gyms so why go there ? You want to be thrown on to yourself ? Get a Bar and train ALONE. You'll soon discover the all present Emptiness in and around you....but, this is NOT bad. The old Daoists knew that there's NO way to fill the void, so better embrace it.

Lonely? Surrounded by a bunch of Jersey Shore morons caring only for their muscles, money and cocks, how can I be lonely? lol The degree of shallow stupidity in the US is alarming, no wonder the nation is falling apart. Bodybuilding is no better - full of male 'Kim Kardashians' whose life purpose is to look good! Gotta love it! lol

I think his point is that there is a terrifying emptiness inside us all that we rush to fill with work, sex, muscles, money, etc…anything to 'distract' us from ourselves - our true self because, and science backs this up - the 'social' self, the one you think is you - does not exist. Its largely a construct of your group.

Ironically, or paradoxically (not sure which) - that emptiness is where Source resides. Lao Tzu's entire book was on his journey to discover nothing, the 'no thing'...
