Help me out if you know this stuff por favor
I moved this thread in here per Por2gue's request. Can we please get some insight from the ladies to help him and his mom out please? Thanks everyone!
Looking for some help with some stuff someone I know is taking. She is 60 years old, my mom actually. Some nutritionist(ND) who is also a specializing in
hormonal issues out of San Diego has her on some shit I have no clue what some are. She is not working out right now, she had broke her foot and had surgery. She's not obese or fat, maybe 15- 20 pounds overweight. I know i could just look these up myself, but really wanted to here what anyone actually knew about the stuff mentioned. Reading a description is not all I need. I know they're are some posters here educated in this type of stuff , me I just build shit...LOL
1 - Dehydrone #5
2 - Pycngenol (pine bark)
3 - Adrenal Force
4 - Femmeneffence
Her symptoms are very low cortisol levels throughout the day, but HIGH at night. Hot flashes/anxiety, and a burning of the skin from the waist up accompanying the hot flashes. I got her eating pretty good, but she does skip some meals here and there. She is very bad with her water intake, and this I am constantly pushing on her. I'm just concerned ,cause this ND has his own line of sups, and I think he might be just trying to make some extra cash, not that he needs it, I guess, but I dunno. This guy is highly recommended from many many high profile celebs, but means shit to me, but she thinks he is very knowledgeable. He did tell her she should listen to her son (me) about all that I've tried coaching her on, so I guess he can't be that bad..lol.
Thanks all!Last edited by Sistersteel; 04-19-2009 at 01:57 AM.

Number 1 is just Thorne's DHEA 5mg caps. Thorne is a high quality brand. Does she have low DHEAS levels?
Adrenalforce is some glandular extracts, adaptogens, and vitamins/minerals.
Pycnogenol I know as a potent antioxidant. Not sure on its application to her specific issues.
I don't know what number 4 is, though. I would guess it's some sort of phyto/herbal formula for women with hormonal issues when they're older.
For me I like simple things for correcting cortisol circadian rhythms like licorice root in the morning and maybe an adaptogen like rhodiola (150mg), and for at night 5g glycine with meals would help reduce cortisol levels at night.

This doesn't answer the question, really, but has she seen an endocrinologist?
Weak is a state of mind.

I was wondering bout that, I looked through a few forums even looked at that one with the doc. I just figured his questions were more directed to more of hrt type stuff, that these sup questions would be more for here. It is kinda a broad range question that could actually fit in a few forums I guess..LOL
Thanks sweet cheeks!

If she has high cortisol at night, it could be Cushing's disease.
If that is the case, I would recommend she is tested by a certified laboratory.
What other symptoms does she have?
