belly button rings?
ever since i was 16 ive thaught about getting my belly button pierced but i always change my mind about it...what if i get fat (then theres no point in having it if you cant show it off)...what happens when i get pregnant....is it tacky...is it sexy...i dont think i have the right cute belly shape for one (i have man hips!!)
sooo...who has them, who doesnt and how does everyone feel about them?
AND if someday i were to compete would it be distracting or would it add to a posing suite?

I got mine in the early 90s. I've taken it out every time I've competed and also for various surgeries I've had over the years. I did get pretty hefty for a while in the early 2000's... to the point where I took it out because it hurt. But the point is that you can take it out. I also left mine out from my show in 2005 until after my last show in 2007. I went to a piercing place thinking I'd need to get it repierced to get a ring back in and the ring went right in. So basically after more than 2 yrs open, it didn't close.
It sounds like you have a lot of hangups about it LOL! Just go do it! I think they're fun. I'm not sure what the view of them is these days.. they actually seem kinda passe' like big ass sacrum tribal tats.

I have so many piercings that the navel one is so not a big deal to me, but I've heard this same scenario many times. It doesn't hurt, I think they're really cute and like Sassy said, if you ever want to take it out, you totally can!

I finally got one last year after attending the PBW. I saw some of the women that had them and thought they look really nice. I got something simple and keep it in all the time. I love the way it looks and so does my husband You can take it out, they just don't recommend it for the first six months so that it can heal. I will tell you I had no idea how they did it and thought it would be quick like a ear pierce gun LOL it wasn't. The drink right before, sshhhhh definitely helped.

I was a bodypiercer for MANY years before I became a nurse. I decided to go to nursing school because I was getting older and I need a job with health insurance and a 401k. LOL! BUT, if you decide to get it done. I would make sure that who ever is doing the piercing is a member of the Association of Professional Piercers. THen you know you are going somewhere that is clean and reputable. It is very hard to be a member of that organazation. I was the only one here in the state of Ky. If you need any other advice. Please feel free to PM me.

I don't recall ever hearing that. I got mine done on a Friday nite and was out diving in the ocean off S. FL the next morning.
One thing I suggest is don't drink before/immediately after you go do it. I went out for beers afterwards and there was a bit of bleeding after it.

I told my clients not to be getting into water for at least 6 weeks. Too many chances of catching something nasty. Staph infection anymore is TOO easy to get and TOO hard to treat.

The best thing about piercings ( I feel ) is that if you ever tire of them or decide you don't like it anymore- take it out. IF you simply want to disguise it, use a clear ring...
I got my belly button done at 18. Since then I've pierced my nose, my eyebrow, my lip, both nipples, my tongue, and there are 5 holes in both of my ears (3 in one, 2 in another). The only one I've taken out has been my tongue due to infection.

SHowers are fine, but I wouldn't do pools, lakes, hottubs, or oceans.
