Way more so in track cyclists than road cyclists. Endurance is not ass important as the ability to generate power.

Even the upper body on some of these guys is impressive, given the nature of their sport . Two pics up, the guy with grey shorts looks more like a wrestler than a cyclist .

If my math is right 215kg would be 215 x 2... 430 plus 43 = 473 lbs. for nine! BAM!

I'm surprised no one has said this yet, but he's got better quads than ALOT Of professional bodybuilders. And he's just a cyclist. In fact every one of those guys a few pics down have better legs than I'd say half of the guys on the amateur circuit. I figured out what I need to do now for legs.. I guess this is proof you really CAN'T get around not squatting for huge legs.

I think we need to incorporate track cycling for quads
-

I follow cycling closely and those guys are tested pretty often. I don't believe for a millisecond Forstemann is clean but the frequency of testing limits what and how much he can use. Imagine how he'd look if he went full bodybuilding.
It's pretty common for top track sprinters to 1RM in the range 550-600lb range and they rarely weigh more than 190lbs.

What's really funny is the guy on the left is Andre Greipel, a road sprinter who is considered an absolute giant among road racers. He won two stages of the Tour de France this year. He is nicknamed The Gorilla and he's only 6', 180lbs. Most roadies are > 150lbs

I would love to see how these guys train. Most bbers dont have the muscle maturity in their quads like those guys!

Excellent commentary on that video, too.
Always amazes me, the power the German accent has on a persons psyche and their willingness to submit to orders.
Particularly, when it is being delivered by a guy dressed in uniform, with a rifle aimed at the back of your head!
Trainer: "Eins, zwei, drei, vier, funf...."
Client: "Nein. Ich kann nicht so weitergehen"
Trainer: "Schnell, SCHNELL, S-C-H-N-E-L-L....!!!"
***click***
Client: "JAWOHL..!" ***immediately bangs out another ten reps***

That's funny shit kenny!
yeah moral of the story is
SQUAT!
and that's very heavy weight for reps considering he won't be much over 200lbs if he even weighs that much.
looks like hard work and dedication over many years leads to massive mature muscle.
Who would have thought that!

track boys always have big wheels and thats 99% from the weigthts.griepel a big guy even for road sprinter, esspecialy compared to mark cavendish who is best road sprinter in history.endurance riders like an ex teamate of mine who won tour de france a few days ago genrally 60 -70kg.no kneed for big wheels there. i do remember tom platz on his road bike from his book years ago lol.

Match sprint is 3 laps of a 250 meter track but they're only going full gas for the last lap. This is why their quads are so big. Track bikes only have one gear so the only way to speed up is to pedal faster. You need to be able to crank a huge gear from 0 to 140rpm in about 20 seconds.

Let's try this again. (the short post editing time limit here is gay as fuck)

Team sprint is 3 guys drafting each other for 750 meters; fastest team wins. The idea is to stay right behind the guy ahead of you for the best draft but Forstemann, the first guy, leaves his team in the dust.

And then there's the keirin. You have to stay behind the pace bike until it pulls off at 30mph, then it's basically NASCAR on bikes for the next 2 1/2 laps. Head and shoulder butting at 45mph. Everything goes as long as you don't take your hands off the bars.
And this what happens when your feet are locked into the pedals and you crash on a wooden track at 45mph.

Here's a pic I took of a Chinese National team bike in L.A. Take a regular road racing pedal (that already locks your foot in like a ski binding) then add double leather straps because track sprinters are strong enough to pull out of them otherwise. Pulling out of a pedal at 150 rpm on a bike that doesn't coast is bad for your health (very bad).

it does make you think that even if you are a bodybuilder, it's not a bad idea to actually cycle for some cardio rather than being on a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill - at least at times where the weather is nice. You would think it's a lot less boring, you get some fresh air, and it can be very scenic. Just like any other cardio, you don't want to overdue it. And you can turn any bike into a stationary as they have training devices that prop up rear of the bike for indoor use.
