I am 47 and have been lifting consistantly since 1979, competed the first time in 1980.....or the same year Arnold won his last Olympia! I am getting ready for the "Paradise Cup" on October 21st here on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii where I live.
Currently 184 at 5'5" and hovering around 10% bodyfat....maybe a little less? I tried to take my "Sad looking and belly sticking out" before pictures this morning but I just could not get them right on the phone so I will have my wife take some this evening.
More to follow.......

OK I am at work.....for the US Army and as usual I am doing nothing so I will continue on. I have been a lifetime natural but over the last year or two I ha e gone OTC. I have used Ironmaglabs products several times with good results. I have used products in the "Prohormone" area from other companies and some were good, some not. I have had about 90% good luck with IML. I tested out Cynostane in the past but I think I was too "Offseason" to really see the results? I used to be very anti-drug but I have mellowed with age....live and let live? I stay OTC due to having a Family and security clearance for my job. I also used to compete in both NPC and Natural contests but will now stick with NPC due to some of the products I have used. I am not anti-drug........but I am anti-cheating/rule breaking! My wife says I drive too slow, I don't even break the law speeding.

Did you get more tattoos?
-
08-04-2012, 09:05 PM #14
No more tattoos although the contest I helped out at last night (Johnny Ligsay's Team Hawaii) was held on the main stage during a Tattoo convention here and for just a moment......I gave thought to getting another?
So as stated previously I am on Active Duty in the Army and we sometimes have crazy schedules....hence the gap in this log, sorry.
Even now I am pulling a 24 hour duty sitting in a hall for the WHOLE 24 watching a door to keep 2 numbnuts on house arrest. There is a gym upstairs and the two mentioned wanting to workout and I just happened to bring all my stuff with me just in case? BUT that was 2 hours ago and they have not come out of their room again yet?
As far as DMZ 2.0 http://www.ironmaglabs.com/product-list/super-dmz-rx/ goes.... I have been taking it now for 3 days and I doo feel some extra fullness? My calves seem to be pumped? I have heard of the famous "Back pumps" of certain OTC products but have never experienced it.....maybe my calves are like that?
I did have the appetite increase but for the most part have stayed on top of it.
I went to a contest last night and helped out as I stated above.....I see where I need to go but was also not intimidated so I can't complain. The Soldier I was helping out mostly won the overall......and moves back to the mainland next week so I missed that bullet! He also gave me his left over Jan Tana....never seen this product before but man it gave him a nice brown color.
Well if these guys ever get moving we will get a workout in and I will report back....see you, Cal

You are more than welcome!
Now I watched my 6 yearold Son this past week climb up the high dive.....climb down and then climb back up.
He was scared but he went on....and the second after he hit the water he was ready to go again. I might belly flop in this contest but I love climbing the ladder!

OK, at 6:45 P.M. this guy finally decides he wants to workout.....I ask the other Soldier to stay in his room and to please not go out and rob any gas stations while I am working out!
I hit a little chest and triceps. Started with Hammer Strength flat bench. I for some reason lately have gravitated to 8 reps on ALMOST all sets? If it is too light I just SLOOOW down the reps and if it is too heavy I just grind them out, I can almost always get 8 with any weight I pick.
I started with 2 45s per side and did a slow controlled 8
3 45s per side for 8 more reps x 2 sets
3 45s + 10 per side for 8
Back to 3 45s for 8
2 45s for 8 On to incline flys
65 DBs for 4 sets of 8 with a VERY SLOW and CONTROLLED rep speed. I was getting a real good pump.
This is a gym just in the barracks, not the post gym so the one working side of the cable crossover was in use so I started with single arm over head DB extensions with a 35....8 to 10 reps for 4 sets. The cable was still in use so I did two more DB extensions with a drop set from 35 to 20...8 reps each time. Then the cable opened up and I did 3 more sets of cable exts with the stack?? 195 LBs? for 10 to 20 reps per set.
The house arrest guys pizza came so that was the workout! Now just sitting in a hall surfing RX Muscle!
Felt pretty pumped but also just a touch depressed....why? After going to the contest last night I can see I still have a ways to go before contest time BUT....I still have about 10 more weeks so I think I will be OK? See you, Cal

So what unit are you in? 25th? Also what's your MOS if you don't mind? I never minded 24hr duty unless it was a Saturday. That sucked cause then we'd only get Sunday off.

25TH ID, I was with 3rd Brigade Headquarters for 2 years but now am with 2-27 Infantry, one of 3rds Batalions. I am currently a 35F which is INTEL but am trying to switch back to my old MOS 68V which is a Respiratory Therapist. I have been a therapist for 15 years and am just more in to health care. I guess I am lucky because they are giving me Monday off since I had this duty....plus we are already having next Friday off so....THREE DAY WORK WEEK FOR ME!!

We just got back in April and are already training for the next one in mid 2013....just the way it goes?
On another note after a 3 hour nap I took my 2 little kids to the pool. I swam 400 meters and ran another 200 in the pool with a 75 pound kid on my back. I used to swim competitively back in the day...I thought I was going to die after the first 50! I used to swim 800 as a warm up in the early 80s. The Olympics must be getting to me? I did however get a little sun.

Back and Biceps today... Started with Pullups
6 sets of 8 reps, I go slow and with a static hold at the top.
Next 3 sets high and 3 sets low of one arm cable rows. 110lbs all with a hard squeeze.
Next I did preacher curls with 105lbs for 4 sets of 8
Then I flipped around the other way and did 3 more sets off the back side of the preacher bench.
Lastly I did 2 more sets of alternating DB curls with only 35s but very slow and controlled.
I know I had a good workout because the rest of the day when ever I bent my arm to check the time on my watch my bicep cramped up!
As are as http://www.ironmaglabs.com/super-dmz-rx-2-0/#more-4250 goes I am definately getting more vascular but I am watching what I eat very closely so as not to gain any weight, I need to make middle weight and I was 185 this morning.
Now on another note....for those who do not know....I moved to Venice in 1994 and lived there for 2 years. That is when I discovered I would never go pro. I was listening to this song on my IPOD today and it reminds me so much of going to Golds of Venice the first few times........even though I am a 47 yearold man I still like this sone....enjoy.

Nice back and bi workout! Youll notice vascularity especially since your dieting. Been noticing this when bulking which I normally dont see veins since my skin gets very thick.

OK, I worked my 2nd 24 hour shift in less than a week so it has thrown off my workouts a bit. Such is life.
I am feeling the DMZ working though..... I am getting results even with the less than perfect workouts. I had Friday off due to the crazy shift and I could have gone to the gym after sleeping 10 hours but my wife also had the day off so we went for a bike ride and an outdoor lunch at a local Thai place. Tomorrow is her "40 Something" Birthday so another workout is out for then too. Here is a shot of me after our ride, See you, Cal

Shoulders tomorrow and EVERYONE is out of the office for training and classes so I should be able to manage my own time. See you, Cal

I had regular CQ, Roving CQ Which they expected me to walk the barracks halls for 12 hours straight! I walked about 10 minutes out of every hour and considered it extra cardio....and finally I had to watch the same 3 screw ups that are confined to their rooms. Every since we got back from Afghanistan in April there have been tons of DWIs, fights and wife beating. Guys have run wild and continue to go over the edge.
Anyway hit shoulders today because I have a PT test tomorrow so I know that will not effect my score.
Smith machine military press
135 x 12, 155 x 12, 185 x 8, 3 sets then back down to 135 x 8.....later on my right tricep that I had reattached started to bother me a bit and I think it was the above that did it? I usually use a seat to stabilize but there were none available so I just sat on a bench...I think stabilizing tweaked it more than usual?
DB Laterals I stuck with 25s and did one set VERY slow and under control 8 followed by one set 15 reps with speed. I did this little thing 4 time total.
Rear delts on the seated row machine 150 x 8, 175 x 8, 200 x 8 and 175 x 8
Then hammer shrugs 3 45s per side times 8, 4 45s x 8, 4 45s +25 x 8 and then 3 45s x 8.
I also did 30 minutes on the eliptical first thing in the morning.
That being said I started this at 184 and this morning I was 190.5, in 2 weeks so far. I wanted to make middleweight and most likely should and will but I might also just come in as a light LT Heavy....maybe 180 or so? I am not going to worry about it too much. I have competed too long to sweat it too much.
Thanks, see you later, Cal
