I don't like them either that's why I do them last when my quads are completely taxed so I don't have to use a lot of weight. When I go over 225 for front squats I have trouble staying upright without leaning forward a bit, not to mention it's hell trying to keep that weight balanced. I'm ok with them do them last and I usually keep the weight less than my bodyweight plus it's easier on the knees.
