Summary of my training roots:
In high school I started power lifting during my off seasons of swimming. I loved feeling stronger than many of the guys! I swam in college for two years then I started lifting full time for my first competition in January 2011. I competed in the NPC Grand Rapids (Michigan) May 2011 and won my weight class! Right after my competition I graduated Hope College with a BA in psychology, then moved to Colorado for my first job as a transitional living counselor to teens who were coming out of jail.
Moving to Colorado has opened so many doors for me as a competitor! I competed in the NPC Rocky Mountain Championships and placed 3rd in middle-heavy weight bodybuilding. Since the NPC has introduced Women’s Physique I have been training hard to compete in that division vs. Women’s Bodybuilding. I just competed at the NPC Warrior Classic in Women's Physique and got 2nd place in Class B.

Tomorrow I leave for my first national show.... I'm excited, nervous, anxious. I don't have enough words to describe all my feelings. I do know I feel like $HIAT. A training friend told me that if you feel good before a show you haven't done it right. I hope he's right... lol. I'm so hungry! But also a bit nauseous, which is unusual for me. Shaky and nervous stomach. I promise nerves don't really get to me that bad, but I couldn't sleep at all last night because I was so excited.
My body has really changed in the past two weeks (since my qualifying show). That is what has me pumped up. But honestly the food has been on my mind..... I have my list of goodies ready to be bought! I have to be semi-good though because I have two photoshoots scheduled :-)
Thanks for reading, i'll figure out how to work this forum eventually bare with me hahahLast edited by arielhumphrey; 08-28-2012 at 07:57 PM.

Back from North Americans! I squeaked into first callouts with a group of very muscular women! I'm honored to be recognized for the package I did bring. I defiantly need to grow and I'm well up for the challenge! I placed 7th in Women's Physique class B.
I had a blast! I was stressed though...next time I will do better about enjoying the moment and planning better. I suppose the first national show is hectic. What I regret most is not getting to know people in my class. The few I did meet were very nice to me.
The main reason I choose this show was because my sister lives in Pittsburgh! IT was soooo awesome to see her (haven't since May 2011 when I graduated from college) She was a fabulous support (she did my hair) and kept me from having a meltdown when my makeup was not how I wanted it and I lost my key card to hotel room right before getting down to prejudging.
Food was good, friday, saturday, sunday.... LOL Starting eating clean again Monday because my body was NOT happy with all the $H!T. I hope to stay around 130 in off season. So now it's a matter of figuring out what my caloric intake (macro breakdown should be). I'm nervous but also up for the challenge to play with it and hopefully find what works for me!
