Class B is good! You are a whole 3 inches taller than me! Embrace it girl! Us bite size muscle gals have to work extra hard at leaning out and looking longer/taller.
Congrats again on your placing and good luck to you in the futire;-)

So since I've gotten back from North Americans, everybody wants to have a say in how I should or shouldn't train, eat, grow, stay lean, bulk. My head is spinning. I literally can't take it anymore. I sure as hell can't please everyone. Mostly I've been hearing I have to bulk up add fat to grow, train heavy and crazy. And eat carbs. BTW I was keto for my prep...
So I've done six days of carbs. 1/2 cup oatmeal in the morning. 4oz sweet potato pre workout, 25g karbolyn post workout. The beginning of the week I looked good, still filling out. Yesterday and today I LOOK FAT. My stomach is SUPER bloated, even my face is bloated now. I can't stand it. I think i'm insulin sensitive or something!
So re-evaluate back to the drawing board. Going to try different carbs and less of them. Re-evaluate again in 5-6 days. I much rather be a lean body putting on muscle nice and slow then getting huge and feeling emotionally like crudddd. I like being lean and I worked way to hard to loose it. That is pretty much what I've decided, I'm only 23 and have LOTSSSS of time to grow. I'm not in a hurry. Patience is a virtue...
In addition to the whole nutrition aspect. I've had ongoing back issues since high school. Last year, I started making progress with physical therapy. Now I'm working with a chiropractor, myokinestics, and massage therapist and things are going great. I've made a lot of progress but still have a ways to go. I cannot train chest for right now. According to my muscle testing I need to work back/rear delts to pull my shoulder back. My chest is overpowering and rolling everything forward which is recipe for rotary cuff injury (according to chiropractor). Glute max quads hams are strong however glute minimus, trunk, and hip flexors are weak. Prescription is to strengthen those so my back will stop hurting. So while I do want to train heavy hard and grow I need to focus on my muscle weaknesses so I can have longevity in this sport.Last edited by arielhumphrey; 09-08-2012 at 11:50 PM.

You have the common imbalances in chest probbably. That is why when I used to train clients in past as personal coach I started with them training only some bodyparts (as middle of the back and back overally) and did not train chest for example for few weeks - but I reccomended to stretch it instead. Stretching between sets also helps...

Karbolyn and "Carb Slam" always bloated me. Try just oats and potatoes to see how u feel.
As for what everyone thinks u should do, do what YOU want to do, not them

Change of plans. One more competition this year! I'm going to do a local show and compete in figure.... I LOVE physique and the posing however, because of how much size I need to add I thought it would be good to qualify as figure competitor, so that next year depending on how I look (size wise) I can choose physique or figure. Plus, I love getting on stage and prepping. So 9 more weeks of prepping!! YAY!!! WHO DOESN"T LOVE BEING LEAN???

Diet Friendly Cucumber Salad
Diet Friendly Cucumber Salad
I'm just coming off my first national show and the only thing on my mind was getting SUSHI! My heritage, believe it or not, is Japanese. I was raised on white rice and fish. So today I'm going to put together an Asian dinner which is low carb and will punch those cravings in the face!!

Hi Ariel
Yes! You looked great at the NAs! Congrats!
I followed along your last few posts and feel your "pain" about losing the lean freakiness in order to grow, build muscle. Unfortunately and ironically maintaining
stage-ready leanness year round is unhealthy. Our major organs need some fat to function properly, including the brain...lol
And yup, being in WPD and observing the top placing women I too am on a quest to bring up my physique all the way around. Bigger, fuller, developed muscles are on the menu. So my "cushy tushy" has returned along with 20 pounds of weight I don't like but know is essential. I am training hard, heavy and with intensity. The trade off will be a more mature physique come this spring when I cut again. And being able to pull my awesome Guess jeans out of storage!
I hope you can work through all your training restrictions. It sounds like you have some work arounds. I cannot imagine the frustration...so I am sending you healing angels >*<
Lastly, girl you will rock in Figure!!! Too much muscle for bikini! You've got a great v-taper and the rounded capped delts they really love on the figure gals! So go for it and smash that stage in 9 weeks!

Mmmm peace and brown rice yummy....LOL
Thank you so much. Yes, I keep hearing from everyone cannot stay comp lean. I think I'm just afraid because I've always been a bigger girl and am afraid of ending up there again.
The whole plan with Figure is to hopefully qualify this year, take time to grow train and then uncover what is underneath and decide figure/physique next year. But I must admit practicing in the heels has been TONS of fun!!!
Rock those Guess jeans ;-)

I hear you, however once I kept in shape 13 months in a row and than had to take 12 months OUT to recover fully from all "side efects" of the dieting and cardio so it is just about being carefull than on a way to recovery... however figure seem good choice to me. Still in WP you need a LITTLE bit harder lines = less bodyfat = more strict diet for long time...
