Still in WP you need a LITTLE bit harder lines = less bodyfat = more strict diet for long time...
Try my hand at figure this year, take a off season after then see what body does/looks whether WP or figure. Just gonna have fun with it all!

As promised, I want to write a brief entry about my new job!

As you'all may or may not know my true passion and what makes my heart beat is helping people. I'm what you would call a "healer". I gravitate towards people in their time of need. Its a good and bad trait (sometimes). Sometimes I get into relationships or situations where I'm taken advantage of or the support I offer is not wanted.

So anyways, my college degree is in Psychology. Last year I worked/lived with troubled teens transitioning out of jail into the "real world" Very difficult work.

Then I started working at a gym as a manager and personal trainer in June 2012 until now. While it has been a good fun job, it has not satisfied me. I feel empty and stagnate. I started looking for jobs in "my" line of work: Social work/psychology. I was hired within a week of job hunting!!!! So thankful....

I will be working in a psych hospital where I am on the front lines so to speak. That means I will be checking up on patients every 15 min +/- 2 min. This is because our patients are high risk for suicide and will find ANY way to kill themselves... I have heard a few stories already and the creativity is just absolutely amazing. There is much more to say about my job description but I'll leave it at that for right now because I haven't started working yet.

I'm very happy with where my life is going. I feel like I'm getting back into what I was meant to do, which is help and be with people who are in the lowest part of their life. My gifts and talents will be utilized and I'm very excited to have a fast pace job again.

Training is going well. Still hard to adjust from the training that I was used to for North Americans. The hardest part so far about it has been the rest days. I never want to rest and feel guilty when I do! I also am struggling with sleep, which has been an ongoing problem for a few years now. I just want to sleep through the night.... I am seeing a few different people and feel like we are getting some where on the issue.

I'm pretty comfortable where my body is right now. Its going to be interesting to "coast" into a show vs. crash dieting and trying to make the deadline and looking very depleted I'm pretty lean and close to show ready. So I'm looking forward to the next 6 weeks!

    Good for you Ariel!

I think it is great when someone can find true meaning and purpose in the work & career they choose. So many find it hard to actually work in the fields they get their degrees. I wish you all the best in your new position.

I also wish you strength, energy and many good nights of sleep in the coming weeks of your prep! You WILL rock the stage in 6 weeks!

Keep us posted on your progress!

“You know what you gotta do, so do it”

Those are the words ringing in my ears from posing coach, friend, and trusted pair of eyes, Allen Watkins “Watty”. I'm less than four weeks out from my last show of 2012, but it is my first figure competition. I've been dieting since the beginning of the year, religiously doing cardio, and lifting weights. This is a lifestyle. But the truth is, sometimes it gets tiresome. I'm not going to sugar coat. It's hard work living and breathing this lifestyle. Most days it is worth it but some days it doesn't feel like it.

This weekend was one of those weekends... Little did I know I was getting sick, but I was ready to throw in the towel and be done with all this competing business (for the year). All of a sudden, being bed ridden and nauseous helped me realize, no, I really do want to finish out the year strong. I do love to compete and challenge myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And truth be told bodybuilding is one of the most challenging sports to do that! I don't care whether you're bikini or bodybuilding, we all make sacrifices. Sure some of us diet or cardio harder depending on the level of conditioning we need but a sacrifice is a sacrifice.

One of the biggest sacrifices for me is putting myself first. My natural tendency is to put everyone else's needs before my own. Building one's body and competing is an independent sport. It puts stress on oneself and tends to affect relationships near by. Fortunately, it is only temporary and I hope that the people that surround you have patience and faith that things will return to “normal”. Just know that once its all done and over, the dust and fame settles, that there is more to life than the placing.

It's time for me to focus up. Tunnel vision it is. I know what I gotta do, now I'm going to do it. 4 weeks.

Hi, I am new to this forum and just wanted to say Congrats. Placing 7th is great for your first national event.

1.5 week out from NPC Rocky Mountain Figure Competition Denver, CO. Its been a hard road. My body, mind and spirit need to rest and recuperate. I'll be the first to admit that the hard dieting and extreme workouts have took a toll on my body. Last week, just from posing I managed to (possibly) fracture my rib. Quite painful...

I'm ready to be done and focus on a solid off season. I'm thinking a couple weeks TOTALLY off from the gym, to let this rib heal. Then I want a good consistent training journal on here. All my lifts and goals to hold me accountable.

    Question/input: Breast implants?? Ready-set-go!
