Just Venting

So I been having some neck pain since the beginning of December. Sometimes its really bad, and sometimes not so bad. I started going to the chiropractor in late December and that did wonders for my back and asthma. I was able to get off all of my asthma meds and I can now do lunges without a sharp burning pain going down my ass crack. (Isnt that a great pic!) LOL!

Well, I finally got fed up and made myself an appointment with a neurosurgeon where I work. The first guy that checked me out, a resident, a dumbass, said, "Oh, I think its just muscle, must be from all that working out." RIght. Then the attending checked me out and he didnt think it was anything but he decided to get an xray and an MRI.

My x ray showed NOTHING!

My mri was today......I have a bad buldging disc in my neck.

THen he ask if I could take it easy for a while. I laughed.

I said maybe in 8 weeks, I am getting ready for a show brother!!

I have been training with it since Dec, hell a few more weeks ain't gonna hurt.

So, keep my in your prayers. He is afraid that it might completely pop out.

Are you able to go and see a specialist sports physician. They are a lot more sympathetic and should be able to give you good advice.
But the thing to do is look at what's better for you in the long run, this is one show. A spinal problem can be with you for the rest of your life and realy efect your quality of life in the future.

Go back to the chiropractor and ask for what is often termed "corrective care". The chiropractor will be interested in seeing the X-rays and MRIs (not just the reports) because he/she should be looking for other findings (such as spinal curve and alignment) than the medical physician. The additional information from the images can be very helpful for correcting the problem, in the proper hands.

The chiropractor should be actively leading on type of case, rather than just prescribing some therapy (of whatever kind it may be). If the chiropractor doesn't have you on an active correction schedule, you need to find someone who will put you on one. Therapy/exercises/machines/whatever can be good adjuncts but won't do the job alone.

I do go to a chiropractor once a week. My neurosurgeon told me not to go back right now.

A nuerosurgeon I Know once told my chiropractors are good, just don't let them do cervical manipulations.
