[QUOTE=Ibarramedia;266110]That's hard to say because of the size difference, though Joe louis did knock out Max Schmelling who was much bigger. I would have liked to have seen a Mike Tyson-Rocky Marciano and Mike Tyson -Jack Dempsey fight in their prime.....[/QUOTE

A lot of boxing guys say Tyson hit harder than just about everyone except George Foreman. His upper cut was a pretty horrific thing for his opponents to experience, from left and right. Tyson-Dempsey, I would pay $100 to see that fight. The thing about Iron Mike is it is so hard for a lot of people to separate the fighter in the ring from the head case out of the ring.

I am a huge Iron Mike fan. Fascinating guy and exciting fighter. He had amazing skills but by no means is he the best HW of all time. With the exception of Holmes his early career wins were a list of cans.

Tyson did not have 1 punch KO power. He knocked ppl out with combos mostly. Marciano, Lennox Lewis, George Foreman all I would suspect hit harder then Iron Mike did.

The other problem for him is his height. He is listed at 5"11 1/2 but in all honesty I don't think he is an inch over 5'9. I know ppl that have met him that swear by this too.

I would like to learn to box. Is there any gym to southern Ohio that will train an absolute beginner?

Depending on how "retired" money mayweather was....
I dont think so tho.....If you look at mayweathers past fights....he is too accurate, too fast, has sick punch resistance, and never gets tired.....

His defence is better than Pacmans, Speed is on par if anything, Id say he is more accurate.....Id give power to pacman.....but thats about it....

I wouldnt use the hatton fights to judge these two....hatton was way too confident for the pacman fight and wanted to lay into him like he did all his shitty brit opponents before he met mayweather jr.....

Regardless. will be a dope fight if it materializes.....

Cotto overcomes cut, wins split decision

Miguel Cotto gave thousands of his cheering fans exactly what they hoped for on the eve of the national Puerto Rican Day parade.
Overcoming an early cut from an accidental headbutt and several brutal rounds from Joshua Clottey, the popular Cotto fought to a narrow split decision Saturday night inside a packed Madison Square Garden, retaining his WBO welterweight title.
With blood pouring down his face from the third round on, the pride of Caguas and the roughly 800,000 New Yorkers who trace their roots to his island nation threw his arms up at the end of a close and exhilarating bout that left both fighters battered.
Referee Don Trella scored the fight 116-111 and John McKaie 115-112, both for Cotto, while Tom Miller had it 114-113 for Clottey. A mega fight with Pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao looms next.

The world championship fight between WBO light flyweight defending champion Ivan Calderon of Puerto Rico and challenger Rodel Mayol of the Philippines ended in techncial draw moments ago at the Madison Square Garden in New York when the fight was stopped by the referee at 1:15 in the 6th round due to excessive bleeding from Calderon's cut on the forehead caused by an accidental headbutt in the 5th round.

The judges' score were 58-56 Mayol, 58-56 Calderon and 57-57 Even.

That was a tough fight. But that is how I envsioned it... Cotto and Clottey would batter each other and it would come down to a split decision. They are both warriors.

    Default Mayweather Vs Marquez Postponed‏

The highly anticipated July 18 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed due to a rib injury sustained by Mayweather while training. The mega-fight was scheduled to take place at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

There is a possibility that the fight will be moved to August 8.

Two weeks ago my source told me:

Golden Boy Promotion has to make a major decision this coming weeks for profit reasons. The proposed mega ppv fights between pbf vs. marquez is not selling well not only in tickets but also to the regular boxing sponsors tecate, cervesa and budwieser who doesnt like to back up the fight. Even the MGM grand didn't hold even a single ticket for the fight for their retail selling with hotel accomodation, while before the MGM always wanted to buy all the tickets in any major bout. According to Brad, less than 300 tickets has been sold as of this time. And theres no indication that it will surpass to 1,000 tickets this weekend. A very dismal showing for a mega fight or a ppv fight. So GBP is planning to move the schedule to August 8 and instead of PPV it will be shown for free viewing.

GBP is not new to this problem, in two weeks or three GBP will have a major announcement to move the fight because of injury to either marquez or mayweather as the reason to move the fight. They always done this every time they smell something wrong at the box office.

I took this with a grain of salt. But now it makes sense considering the postponement of the fight.
