I was a sprinter when I was in my early teens. I got 3rd in a provincial final and never touched a barbell, just did plyometrics exercises and practised running techniques. He wouldn't want to squat too heavy because he could put on unneccesary amounts of muscle.

I care about the entertainment value of it, let him and the others take whatever they want, i really don't understand why anyone would care!

I hope he is using drugs. I'm not interested in watching him if he isn't running to his full potential.

That is incorrect thinking shared by many coaches. You can train very heavily with almost no hypertrophy if you do it correctly. Heavy resistance training is an EXCELLENT way to improve one's sprinting speed.

When you have a team that goes from nothing to sweeping most of the medals, something is clearly going on in that team. Maybe the Jamaican's have gotten better at chemistry or beating the tests.
i wouldn't say "from nothing". Jamaica has a long history of quality sprinters. You can go all the way back to Donald Quarry.

Squat moderately heavy, never going below 10 reps, and come off 2weeks from major meet. Times drop like a rock. Squatting will help times. No Question in my experience as a sprinter.

I know a top level sprinter and as far as squats and bench they go for power nothing else, he is 73kgs and can squat 270kgs, he can bench 150

Man I was replying to Slix who was making it seem with his post that Usain wouldn't be able to 'squat even 400 lbs'. I'm not saying weights don't help a person I was just giving my experience from when I was younger, I agree weightlifting helps explosive strength immensely.

    cont'd....

What I was getting at was in my opinion there is no reason for him to go and lift a weight that increased the risk of injury and put slabs of muscle on his hams and quads just to be the 'big dog' in the gym. Whatever weight however light or heavy he is lifting now is obviously helping but there's no reason for him to build up his lower body just to improve his look.

Who gives a fuck what he's lifting he's the fastest man on the planet!!

He does, because it is part and parcel to what makes him exactly that.
