Is Masters Olympia back?
I hope so. I attended three shows & miss them.

I think it's a great thing to bring it back. The PGA has the PGA tour champions where athletes who otherwise would be considered "past their prime" can still compete and earn a living and have fun. I think a masters ifbb pro division with Olympia qualification would be a great opportunity.

Here is my competition report & review of the video of the 2000 Masters Olympia show in Roanoke, Virginia, which is now on DVD & also available as a download from GMV.

I posted the following under the video that began this thread, because rumors were starting to circulate that the Masters Olympia ended due to Don Youngblood's demise. Not everyone reading this thread may know this, so I'm sharing it here.
The IFBB ended the Masters Olympia after 1997 because it wasn't profitable (not enough tickets sold). It wasn't held in 1998. Jan Tana restarted it in 1999 and paired it w/ her pro women's shows (bodybuilding and fitness). She promoted Masters O shows in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003. However, her contract was w/ Wayne DeMilia, not the IFBB. When DeMilia was fired, her contract was null & void. That was the end of the Masters O. It had nothing to do w/ Don Youngblood's passing. He seriously injured himself in a photo shoot for Flex magazine after his Masters O win in 2002 (that photo shoot never appeared), & began having health problems, including diabetes & apnea. He died in his sleep on 8 May 2005.Last edited by hifrommike65; 10-10-2019 at 10:11 AM.

They held one as recently as 2012 (in Miami) but it was different in a way that there were active older guys such as Dexter Jackson and Toney Freeman up there against the likes of Andreas Cahling. Jarka was the promoter and there were a bunch of folks alleging that she didn't pay what was promised to them.

I would LOVE to see them bring this back to the show. Something that could add that missing spark that the Mr. O so desperately needs right now.

I remember when Lou Ferrigno was allegedly ''robbed'', when Robby Robinson won

The 2006 Pro Masters World was held in April for just one year by Bev Francis, I believe in conjunction with the Metropolitcan Championships. Bob Chicherillo won that show. Some people thought Rusty Jeffers was the most competitive person onstage, but he was not put into the top five & ended up finishing eighth. Bob was never in a comparison lineup with Rusty. The supplement company that represented Bob sponsored the show, & some felt the company wanted Bob to have a pro win, & so arranged the show specifically for that purpose. That, however, is scuttlebutt. I will say that Bob looked very good at that show.

This is the contest report I did of the 2002 Masters Mr. Olympia in Lynchburg, Virginia, along w/ a review of the contest video, which is available as a DVD or download from GMV Productions. This is the contest in which Don Youngblood got first place. It was a thrilling show, unless you were a Vince Taylor fan.

Nick's 2017 report on the demise of the Masters O. He used uncredited pix my webmaster took at the 2002 Masters Olympia, although I don't mind it. They're great pix.Last edited by hifrommike65; 10-14-2019 at 01:23 AM.
