VIENNA (AP) - Bettina Mueller-Weissina, a seven-time Austria sprint champion who competed at the 2004 Olympics, will not be provisionally suspended after allegedly violating anti-doping rules for a second time in her career.
The disciplinary committee of national anti-doping agency NADA said on Wednesday it will not ban Mueller-Weissina before a hearing on April 14.
Mueller-Weissina, who was given a two-year suspension for using anabolics in 1998, denies any wrongdoing, according to her attorney Christian Horwath.
NADA started proceedings against the 36-year-old athlete this month for allegedly trying to order growth hormones from an unidentified man, who had already been under investigation for selling doping products.
Mueller-Weissina has admitted that she sent the man a text message over her mobile phone, but denied having ever received or used the hormones.
Horwath said his client "has neither consumed nor bought banned substances ... Fact is, (she) has been tested for doping 11 times between February 2009 and February 2010 and all came back negative."
Mueller-Weissina won four national titles in the 100 meters and three in the 60 indoors from 2001-08, but failed to win a medal at international competitions.
