Low good cholesterol HDL

Ive been on HRT for 5 years now at 200 mg test per week and now down to 150 mg per week. the doctor says my HDL (good) cholesterol is to low and that is a risk for heart disease. by taking synthetic testosterone it will lower your good cholesterol. I have been thinking about taking niacin to raise the HDL.

My total cholesterol is 136 even when eating junk food. My cholesterol has always been low all my life but never payed attention to HDL. My LDL is normal. But my HDL is 26 and normal is 40-60.

Is there anyone here who is on HRT and has had this problem and solved it?

Diet can affect cholesterol,but do you have a family history of high cholesterol or was it just HRT induced?
If diet is not helping it try getting a pescrip cholesterol pill. Niacin can help from what Ive read but I do not know how well in detail

no family of high cholesterol. i myself have always had low cholesterol and doctors have always congratulated me for it. It is still low but they are pointing out that my HDL is low and needs to come up and that taking testosterone lowers HDL. Im on HRT due to low test levels

Yup, steroids lower HDL in a dose dependant relationship.

I would advise Omega 3 fish oils daily at around 6 grams (no omega 6 or 9 just omega 3)
1 baby asprin daily.
200mg CQ-10 for BP and an anti-oxidant for the heart.
Cardio
clean diet
Niacin if all else fails. Must be flushing. No-flush will NOT work.

thanks. yeah im only on 150 mg test cyp per doctor order. my cholesterol is 130, LDL is fine but HDL is 26-30.
